When Microsoft Outlook sends attachments and rich-text files through a MS Exchange Mail Server, the server encapsulates the files in a file called "winmail.dat". This is a binary file and unusable with any mail program except M$ Outlook.
Now, Balázs Bárány is kind to offer a free on-line winmail.dat degenerator. The degenerator extracts all the attachments in winmail.dat into their original meaningful formats.
Microsoft Vista’s default security policy is to only use NTLMv2 authentication. NTLMv2 is not yet supported by Samba. To get Vista to work with Samba which is a de facto platform used in most network attached storage devices today, you can edit the registry.
